American Queen, V
charcoal & acrylic on paper
15” x 15”
2025
I often return to previous subjects, looking to represent them in new way. Learning that the American Queen steamboat had been decommissioned and sold for scrap motivated me to revisit and honor the old vessel, being that it was the subject of my first painting after a years-long hiatus.
While in use, the American Queen held the title as the largest riverboat constructed for the Mississippi. Highlighting its size, I presented its multi-layered decks in macro perspective via charcoal and acrylic paint on paper.
American Queen, V is available for purchase.
